How we handle it

Doing it yourself? If the unit is small and you have a truck, it's doable — but the two things that get people are volume and dump runs. A full 10×10 is usually more than one pickup load, and the transfer station charges by weight plus your time hauling. Auction buyers especially underestimate it: you're often clearing someone else's packed unit on a deadline before the next month's rent hits. If you just want it gone by the facility's cutoff, an on-site quote is usually worth it.
