If the unit is small and you have a truck, it's doable. The two things that get people are volume and dump runs. A full 10×10 is usually more than one pickup load, and the transfer station charges by weight, on top of your time hauling. Auction buyers especially underestimate it, since you're often clearing someone else's packed unit on a deadline before the next month's rent hits. If you just want it gone by the facility's cutoff, an on-site quote is usually worth it.
