Refrigerators and freezers can't just go in a dumpster — they contain refrigerant that has to be recovered under EPA rules, which is why most haulers and transfer stations charge extra or refuse them. We remove fridges and freezers across the Kansas City metro and handle the refrigerant properly.

How we handle it

We disconnect it, protect your floors on the way out, and haul it for $110–$199 depending on size and access. Working units we route for reuse where possible; the rest go to an appliance recycler that recovers the refrigerant and scraps the steel. Before you call anyone, note that Evergy periodically runs a rebate program that picks up working old fridges for free and pays you $40–$50 — worth checking evergy.com first if yours still runs.

Thinking about doing it yourself?

Doing it yourself? A fridge with refrigerant can't legally go to a normal landfill cell — it needs an appliance recycler that recovers the Freon, and the Jackson/Johnson County transfer stations charge a per-item fee ($25–$50). They're also heavy and tall, which makes stairs and tailgates a two-person job. If it still works, the Evergy rebate is the best deal going.

These guys are amazing. Called them needing junk removed, with the only access to the property being a closed road under construction. They gave me a quote and came out same day - took multiple trips, cleaned up the entire area, and were extremely courteous and professional. Will absolutely use again - very reasonably priced, efficient, and did the job better than I even expected! Could not recommend more.
