Old drywall comes down in dusty, crumbly pieces, and one room of it makes a pile that's heavier than it looks and won't fit in a car. We do that part. We take the drywall off the walls and ceilings you pick, carry every piece out and haul it away the same visit. The studs, framing, insulation and anything inside the walls stay where they are. It's loud, dusty work, so plan to keep kids and pets out of the room while we're there. We work in houses, townhomes and rental homes built in 1978 or later, across the KC metro. Before we come, your electrician or plumber disconnects the outlets, switches, light fixtures, wiring or pipes in those walls. We never disconnect anything ourselves. Text us a few photos and the year the home was built, and we'll send you a price.

FAQ

Common questions about drywall removal

It depends on how many walls and ceilings are coming out, how big the rooms are, and what's in the walls. Text us a few photos and we'll send you a price, then confirm it in writing on-site before we start. Every job has our $125 trip minimum.

Drywall is painted, and in homes built before 1978 that paint can contain lead. Tearing out drywall disturbs it, and that work needs EPA lead-safe certification, which we don't hold. If you're not sure when your home was built, your county's property records or Zillow will show it. If an older home has been tested and found lead-free in writing, send us the report.

No. A licensed electrician or plumber needs to disconnect the outlets, switches, light fixtures, wiring or pipes in those walls before we arrive. We never disconnect anything ourselves.

No. We take off the drywall only. The studs, framing, insulation and anything inside the walls stay where they are. We don't remove walls or studs, and we don't touch anything load-bearing.

Yes. We don't take down textured or popcorn ceilings, which can contain asbestos and need testing first. We don't remove plaster and lath, wall tile, shower surrounds or backsplashes. We also don't take down fire-rated walls, like the wall between a garage and the house or between two units, or any wall within 5 feet of the property line. Those walls are part of the home's fire protection, and some need a city permit.

Yes. Leaks and basement floods are a common reason drywall has to come out. We take off the wet drywall and haul it away. If there's mold, testing and treating it is a job for a mold remediation company. We remove drywall, but we're not a mold company.

Tell us what you want to keep when you send photos, and we'll quote the job that way.

We do drywall removal in homes: houses, townhomes, and duplexes and other buildings with up to four units. Offices, stores and bigger apartment buildings usually need an asbestos inspection before demolition work, so we don't take those right now. If someone else tears out the drywall, we can still haul it away.

Yes, in any home. If you or your contractor already tore it out, we just haul it, priced by the truck space it fills like any other junk.
