Old backyard sheds — the wooden 8×10 you inherited with the house, the rusted metal one a windstorm dented, the rotting plastic one that was old in 1998 — eventually become an eyesore and a liability. We tear down and haul off shed remains across the Kansas City metro every week. Here's what it actually costs in 2026.
Typical range: $245 – $895
Across hundreds of KC shed teardowns, the range we see is $245 for a small lightweight plastic or metal shed up to $895 for a large wood shed with a concrete pad to break up. The big cost drivers are size, material, and disposal weight.
What you'll pay by size and material
- Small plastic/resin shed (6×6 or smaller): $245–$345
- Small metal shed (8×6 to 8×8): $295–$425
- Standard wood shed (8×10 to 10×12): $395–$595
- Large wood shed (10×16 or bigger): $595–$895
- Concrete-pad removal add-on: $195–$395 extra
What drives the price up
- Concrete pad that has to be broken up and hauled
- Attached lean-to or covered overhang
- Live electrical run to the shed (have your electrician disconnect first)
- Shed buried in vegetation that has to be cleared first
- Difficult access — backyard with no gate access for the truck
What you can do before we arrive
- Empty the shed of contents (we can haul those too — separate quote)
- Disconnect any electrical (licensed electrician)
- Cut back vines or brush blocking access
- Take photos for insurance if the shed had storm damage
What we don't do
We don't handle asbestos-shingle removal, large concrete slab demolition (over 100 sq ft), or buried-foundation excavation. For those, you need a specialty demo contractor.
