Apartment move-out cleanouts are one of our top-three weekday job types. Either the renter doesn't want to move 90% of the stuff to the new place, or the landlord is doing the post-tenant cleanout. Here's what it costs in the KC metro right now.
Cost by apartment size
- Studio / 1-bedroom (mostly furniture + boxes): $245–$425
- 2-bedroom (more furniture, mattresses, kitchen items): $345–$595
- 3-bedroom (full household): $445–$795
- Hoarder-condition or extreme accumulation: $595–$1,500+
Walk-up surcharge
Third-floor walk-ups (think Westport, Plaza, Crossroads, parts of Waldo) add 15–25% to the labor for the extra carry. We quote firm on-site after seeing the stairwell.
Common move-out cleanout items
- Mattresses and box springs that won't fit in the new apartment
- IKEA furniture that won't survive disassembly
- Old couches/sectionals
- Kitchen appliances (microwave, toaster oven, etc.)
- Half-used cleaning supplies
- Lampshades, broken blinds, curtain rods
- The mystery box from the back of every closet
Schedule it for after the movers
The smoothest approach is to schedule us for the day after the movers leave — the apartment is empty except for the stuff staying behind, and we can clear it in one trip without juggling around the mover.
Landlord-paid cleanouts
For landlords and property managers: we invoice net-15 on signed accounts and provide a Certificate of Insurance same-day. We do dozens of tenant-turnover cleanouts each month across the KC metro.
